What is Scotland’s Climate Week?
Climate Week celebrates and showcases climate action, with support across Scotland’s communities and organisations. Starting on 26 September, it will raise awareness of how people, businesses and organisations can adapt to a low carbon lifestyle.
It’s an opportunity to showcase collective actions in response to the climate crisis and to encourage further action to help Scotland achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. National and
local government, businesses and organisations, communities, families and individuals are all part of this effort.
This Climate Week, the theme is Climate Conversations. The campaign is encouraging people to have conversations on climate change with colleagues, families, friends and within their own communities.
How do I take part?
Start a climate conversation
Taking part is simple and free, and there is a conversations pack to help those who want to get involved with #ScotClimateWeek.
Starting just one conversation can create a ripple effect of positive actions that could help Scotland make the changes needed to reach net zero and become climate ready.
Host or attend an event
This year builds on the activities that took place during Climate Week 2021 and COP26. Everyone can get involved. So, look out for events and activities happening in your area and online. Or why not host your own event in your workplace or in your community?
If Climate Week has sparked your interest in learning more about the Climate Emergency, this free one hour online event on 29th September is a great place to start.
And remember, events are not only taking place during Scotland’s Climate Week. Community and third sector organisations are holding events throughout the month of September as part of Scotland’s Climate Fringe Festival.
There is a significant role for the whole of Scottish society to support the transformational change needed to meet our climate change targets. Collectively, we can all work together to reduce our emissions and limit any further damage creating a fair and thriving net zero nation by 2045. So, let’s take the journey together and leave no one behind.
